Random Thoughts and Observations

Wednesday, June 29, 2005

  • Friday is the start of a new fiscal year. I think they should make that a holiday. Happy New Fiscal Year!
  • Three songs/artists I haven't heard on JACK/fm yet: "Hawaii Five-O" by The Ventures, "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams, and anything by Boz Scaggs. Get on it, Jack!
  • Albertson's rotisserie chicken is damn good, even after a week.
  • It's ten degrees warmer in Anchorage, Alaska than San Francisco today.
  • My new house is only three hours from Las Vegas.
  • Only one phone call so far since I got to work at 5 this morning.
  • They are raising the tolls (again!) on the 91 Express Lanes. Now it will cost me an extra 10 cents to cruise 10 miles down the 91 next to people who prefer sitting in traffic. Oh, and check out this map!

Daily Affirmation

Monday, June 13, 2005

I refuse to let circumstances hold me hostage. I do the best I can, make the best decision I can make, when the situation arises. I don't look back. No regrets. No stress. If they don't want me, it's their loss. I am happy with what I have, who I am. F*** them all.

I've waited 25 years for this

Monday, June 06, 2005

I've waited 25 years to see this. I finally got the VCDs from eBay.

This highly popular TV series from Hong Kong came out just months after my family moved to the U.S. in 1979. The book by Koo Lung was one of my all-time favorites. What is it about? Imagine a Bond movie, but with Bond as a master of martial arts. With lots of beautiful women, a story full of twists, and a surprising and sinister nemesis. The TVB production back in the late 70's was superb and well-acted.

JACK FM

Lately there has been this phenomenon going around the country called "JACK FM". I must admit that when I'm not listening to my own station, I listen to Jack, because it's the closest thing format-wise to my station. But I think I'm better at "jacking off" - I have yet to hear Jack FM put Pet Shop Boys next to someone like Frankie Valli. (How 'bout both versions of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" back to back?), or Billy Joel after Incubus, or System of a Down followed by Jim Croce. Sorry Jack, I've been playing what I want since 2000, my library is bigger, and you've got no balls.

Yellow Bracelets and Magnetic Ribbons

Thursday, June 02, 2005

I'm proud to say that I do not have a yellow bracelet or a magnetic ribbon on my car (It won't stick anyway - my car is plastic.)

Call me a non-conformist, but I'm never much of a follower. I mean, why buy an iPod like everyone else when you can build your own radio station on the internet? Oh right, people don't know how. That's the kind of stuff I get into.
